An 89-87 win in the Maui Invitational championship game over previously-undefeated Duke on Thanksgiving Eve put Gonzaga atop this week’s Associated Press Top 25 poll (released on Nov. 26). This is the university’s the third time at No. 1 in its history, following stints atop the poll in 2016-17, when they reached the national title game, and in 2012-13.
The No. 2 Kansas Jayhawks beat their second top-10 opponent of the season by holding off No. 6 Tennessee in overtime to win the NIT Season Tip-Off title in New York.
Duke fell to No. 3. No. 4 Virginia won the Battle 4 Atlantis title last week.
No. 5 Nevada has its highest ranking ever after winning the Las Vegas Invitational, with Tennessee, Michigan, Auburn, Michigan State and Kentucky rounding out the top 10.
