The 85th Heisman Trophy ceremony is held in New York City, honoring college football’s most outstanding player (ESPN, Dec. 14 8:00 p.m. ET). Joe Burrow (LSU), Justin Fields (Ohio State), and Jalen Hurts (Oklahoma) are finalists, with one becoming the 17th quarterback to win since 2000. Defensive end Chase Young from Ohio State is also a contender.
The Dukes aim for their third FCS semifinal berth in four seasons when they host the Panthers (ESPN2, Dec. 13 7:00 p.m. ET). James Madison (12-1) is led by quarterback Ben DiNucci and his 24 passing TDs this season. Northern Iowa (10-4) seeks its first semifinal since 2008.
Big Sky rivals face off in an FCS quarterfinal match as Weber State (10-3) hosts Montana (10-3) (ESPN2, Dec. 13 10:00 p.m. ET). The Grizzlies rolled the Wildcats for a 35-16 home win Nov. 16. Samori Toure (MONT) had eight catches for 193 receiving yards and three TDs in that game.
The top-seeded Bison aim to keep rolling when they meet the Redbirds in an FCS quarterfinal (ESPN, Dec. 14 12:00 p.m. ET). Matt Entz has yet to lose as North Dakota State head coach, sitting at 13-0 in 2019. Illinois State dropped the 2015 title game 29-27 to North Dakota State.
