NBC Renews ‘Days of Our Lives’ for Season 51

Veteran Daytime Soap Launched in 1965

NBC has greenlit veteran daytime drama “Days of Our Lives” for the 2016-17 season, which will take it into season 51. “NBC is incredibly proud of the legacy of “Days of Our Lives” and we couldn’t be more excited to bring its fans new stories for the 51st season,” NBC entertainment president Jennifer Salke said in a statement. “In a business where having a show remain on the air for two seasons is considered a success, what “Days” has achieved is extraordinary.”

Debuting on Nov. 8, 1965, “Days of Our Lives” is one of the four network daytime soaps that remain on the air. The others are “General Hospital” on ABC, which launched on April 1, 1963, and CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless.”
