Film “Dr. Zhivago” appeared on TV for the first time.NBC paid $4 million for the broadcast rights…The 100th episode of Tony Danza sitcom “Who’s The Boss?” aired on ABC in 1988.  The sitcom concluded on April 25, 1992 after eight seasons…TNT presented musical special “The Wizard of Oz in Concert: Dreams Come True” in 1995, featuring Jewel as Dorothy, Jackson Browne as the Scarecrow, Roger Daltrey as the Tin Man, Nathan Lane as the Cowardly Lion, Debra Winger as the Wicked Witch, Natalie Cole as Glinda, and Lucie Arnaz as Aunt Em…CBS newsmagazine “60 Minutes” aired a tape of Jack Kevorkian giving lethal drugs in an assisted suicide of a terminally ill patient in 1990. Kevorkian was later sentenced to 25 years in prison for second-degree murder…In 2005, Ted Koppel retired after anchoring “Nightline” on ABC for 25 years.

Movies
Pixar’s “Toy Story”, the first entirely computer-animated feature-length film, opened in theaters in 1995. The animated film became the highest-grossing domestic film of 1995, beating “Batman Forever”, “Apollo 13” (also starring Tom Hanks), “Pocahantas”, “Casper”, “GoldenEye” and “Waterworld.“

News
John F. Kennedy, the 35th U.S. President, was shot and killed in Dallas, Texas in 1963 while riding in an open car. Crowds of people lined the streets and waved to the Kennedys. The car turned off Main Street at Dealey Plaza around 12:30 p.m. As it was passing the Texas School Book Depository, gunfire suddenly reverberated in the plaza. Bullets struck the president’s neck and head and he slumped over toward Jacqueline Kennedy. Governor John B. Connally, was shot in his back. The car sped off to Parkland Memorial Hospital just a few minutes away. But little could be done for the President. A Catholic priest was summoned to administer the last rites, and at 1:00 p.m. John F. Kennedy was pronounced dead. Governor Connally survived…In 1990, Margaret Thatcher announced her resignation as British prime minister after a split occurred in the ranks of the Conservative party.

Season three of “Who’s the Boss?” concluded with a two-part backdoor pilot featuring Katherine Helmond as Mona leaving to run a hotel with her brother and Tony and Samantha (Alyssa Milano) moving into Mona’s apartment.  When the proposed spin-off sitcom did not surface, the two-parter featured a final scene with Mona returning home and Tony and Samantha moving back into Angela’s (Judith Light) house.
