Solid Start for ‘Victoria’ on PBS

Over 6-Million Viewers Based on the Live + 7 Day Data from Nielsen

The debut of “Victoria” on PBS’ MASTERPIECE dramatic series scored 6.3 million viewers, based on the Live + 7 Day data from Nielsen on January 15th. Comparably, this was 28 percent above the season one premiere of “Downton Abbey,” which drew over 4.9 million viewers, and 17 percent more viewers than the top-rated episode of “Downton Abbey” that same season.

Online, the “Victoria” series premiere has garnered more than one million streams, and the entire series to-date has been streamed three million times across all station-branded PBS platforms, including pbs.org/masterpiece. This first episode, excluding sports, was the also the second most social program across Facebook and Twitter the night of broadcast.

“Victoria” continues Sundays now through March 5 at 9 p.m. ET on MASTERPIECE following season two of “Mercy Street.” It is available to stream at the same time as broadcast on all station-branded PBS platforms, including PBS.org and PBS apps for iOS, Android, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Chromecast. All eight episodes can be streamed on Passport, a benefit for local PBS station donors that offers extended access to the library of public television programming.
