Wild Finish to North Carolina-Kentucky Elite 8 NCAA March Madness Classic

North Carolina Tar Heels versus Kentucky Wildcats — two of college basketball’s perennial top teams in the nation — in the South regional final from Memphis, Tenn. was the marquee matchup of the Elite Eight weekend of the 2017 NCAA Div. I Mens Basketball Tournament.

With 10 seconds remaining, Kentucky’s Malik Monk tied the game 73-73 with a clutch 3-pointer. Immediately thereafter, North Carolina raced down to the other end of the court and Luke Maye scores his clutch jump shot to ultimately win the game for his Tar Heels 75-73 to advance to the 2017 NCAA Final Four.

Maye is the third player in NCAA history (since the tournament field expanded in 1985) to score a go-ahead field goal in the final second of a game to clinch a Final Four berth, joining Duke’s Christian Laettner (1990, 1992) and Villanova’s Scottie Reynolds (2009).

Announcers Jim Nantz. Grant Hill and Bill Raftery called the action for CBS.
