CBS Tops Modest First Wednesday in July

What follows are the metered market (overnight) results in households by network and by half-hour for Wednesday, July 5, 2017:

-Ratings Breakdown:
“Little Big Shots: Forever Young” on NBC topped the evening, with a 4.3 rating/8 share in the household overnights from 8-9 p.m. ET. But CBS finished first overall with its combination of “Big Brother” (#2: 3.8/ 7 at 8 p.m.), which was on par from the year-ago evening, and two repeat episodes of “Criminal Minds” (2.5/ 4 from 9-11 p.m.).

This fall, “Criminal Minds” moves to Wednesday at 10 p.m. out of new drama “SEAL Team.” “Survivor,” of course, will anchor the evening at 8 p.m.

Also on NBC were two episodes (original and repeat) of sitcom “The Carmichael Show” (9 p.m.: #2: 2.4/ 4; 9:30 p.m.: #1, 2.6/ 5), which will not be returning for a second season, and an encore telecast of “This Is Us” (#3: 1.4/ 3). Like most serialized dramas, “This Is Us” just does not play well in repeats.

Elsewhere, ABC featured a rotation of repeat sitcoms from 8-10 p.m. – “The Goldbergs” (#3: 2.1/ 4), “Speechless” (#4: 1.7/ 3), “Modern Family” (#3: 2.0/ 4) and “American Housewife” (#3: 1.7/ 3) – into game show “To Tell the Truth” (#2: 2.1/ 4). Fox aired repeats of “MasterChef” (#4: 1.7/ 3) and “The F World with Gordon Ramsay” (#4: 1.2/ 2). And The CW featured encores of “Arrow” (#5: 0.6/ 1) and “D.C.’s Legends of Tomorrow” (#5: 0.5/ 1).

This fall, sophomore “Riverdale” moves to Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on The CW into the revival of :Dynasty.”
