Ratings Breakdown:
ABC remained the network to beat in the Monday household overnights, but 10 p.m. ET special, “Living Every Day: Luke Bryan,” hosted by “GMA’s” Robin Roberts, was well below regularly scheduled “The Good Doctor.” It scored a 3.6 rating/6 share in households, which was equal to CBS’ competing “Scorpion” and nine percent above recently introduced NBC drama “The Brave” (3.3/ 6). Year-to-year, “Scorpion” was on the downside at a loss of 20 percent from the 4.5/ 7 one year earlier. “The Brave,” meanwhile, slipped by 45 percent from the 9:30 p.m. portion of lead-in :The Voice” (6.0/10).

ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” scored a dominant 6.6/10 from 8-10 p.m., which was 12 percent below the 7.5/11 on the year-ago evening but six percent above NBC’s competing “The Voice” (6.2/10). Naturally, “The Voice” will have the advantage in adults 18-49 (and all the key demo groups), but never underestimate the value of an older-skewing entry like “Dancing With the Stars.”

Over at CBS, there was week-to-week improvement with a rise, on average, of 12 percent in the household overnights. Sophomore “Kevin Can Wait” opened with a typical 4.2/ 7 (#3), leading into an encore telecast of “The Big Bang Theory” at a 3.9/ 6 (#3) at 8:30 p.m. With stronger lead-in support, episode two of the sophomore season of “Superior Donuts” perked up to a 3.7/ 6 (#3) in the 9 p.m. half-hour, which was 16 percent above the 3.2/ 5 one week earlier and on par with year-ago time period occupant “2 Broke Girls.” For my thoughts on the worthy, and diversified, “Superior Donuts,” click here http://www.cbs.com/shows/watch_magazine/archive/1007294/superior-donuts-dishes-comfort-food-for-thought/

In time period premiere news on CBS was recently introduced sitcom “9JKL” with a 3.0/ 5 at 9:30 p.m. (#3), which was 20 percent above former time period occupant “Me, Myself & I” one week earlier (3.0/ 5 on Oct. 31). Personally, this “Everybody Loves Raymond” wannabe is growing on me.

Next week on CBS is the season two premiere of “Man With a Plan,” starring Matt LeBlanc, at 8:30 p.m.

Elsewhere, Fox finished a distant fourth for the night with its pairing of dramas “Lucifer” (#4: 2.5/ 4 at 8 p.m.) and “The Gift” (#4: 2.3/ 4 at 9 p.m.). And The CW capped off the evening with “Supergirl” (#5: 1.4/ 2) into a 0.7/ 1 for recently introduced military drama “Valor” (#5), which was one-tenth of a household rating point behind the 0.8/ 1 for year-ago time period occupant “Jane the Virgin” (0.8/ 1 on 11/07/16).
