New First Run Programming Options in Contention

Despite the majority of current first-run strips returning next season, the norm in syndication every season, there is no shortage of potential new first-run talk, game, court and reality series looking to land clearances for 2016. As we gather in Miami for the annual National Association of Program Executives (NATPE) conference, here are the new first-run projects in contention:

TALK

“Harry” (NBCUniversal) – hosted by Harry Connick Jr.
“Ice & Coco” (Warner Bros.) – hosted by Ice-T and wife Coco Austin – one hour (tested for three weeks on Fox-owned stations in 8 markets)
“So Me” (Trifecta) – focuses on social media and expected to be tested on the Fox O&Os next summer
“T.D. Jakes” (Tenga Media and Debmar-Mercury) – one hour (tested for four weeks on Tenga stations in Dallas, Atlanta and Minneapolis.
“Trending Funny” (Entertainment Studios)

GAME
“South of Wilshire” (TMZ Studios) – currently being tested for eight weeks
-“Super Store Sweep” (Raycom) – a revival of classic game show “Supermarket Sweep)”

COURT
“True Verdict with Judge Joe Brown” (Allied Media Partners)
“The Verdict with Judge Hatchett” (Entertainment Studios)

REALITY
“The Security Brief with Paul Viollis” (Sinclair)
