Tuesday Overnights: Clean Sweep for CBS; ‘The Conners’ Solid on ABC

Ratings Breakdown:
It was a clean household overnight sweep for CBS care of its combination of “NCIS” (#1 for the night: 8.0 rating/14 share at 9 p.m.), freshman “FBI” (5.9/10 at 9 p.m.) and “NCIS: New Orleans” (5.0/10 at 10 p.m.). Comparably, “NCIS: New Orleans” outdelivered competing “The Rookie” on ABC (#2: 3.2/ 6) and “Hollywood Game Night” on NBC (#3: 2.0/ 4) by 56 percent and 150 percent, respectively

On ABC, “The Conners” remains the network’s most-watched sitcom with a solid 5.0/ 8 (#3) in the 8 p.m. half-hour. Comparably, this was 32 percent above year-ago time period occupant “The Middle” (3.8/ 6 on 12/12/17). That led into “The Kids Are Alright” at a 3.1/ 5 (#3) at 8:30 p.m., which slipped by 38 percent. But this slice of life in the 1980s is worthy of a second season renewal based on the quality of the show alone. It is exceptional.

Next on ABC was sitcom “black-ish” (#3: 3.0/ 5 at 9 p.m.), followed by sophomore “Splitting Up Together” (#3: 2.3/ 4 at 9:30 p.m.), which is likely to be a casualty this spring.

On The CW, a Tuesday 8 p.m. ET edition of “Supergirl,” featuring the The Flash, Green Arrow and Superman crossover, was above average at a 1.8/ 3 in the household overnights. But lead-out “Black Lightning” dipped to a 0.9/ 2 in the 9 p.m. hour.

Fox was in repeats.
