Thursday Overnights: ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Leads CBS to Victory

Ratings Breakdown:
Soon-to-conclude “The Big Bang Theory” led CBS to Thursday overnight victory with a hefty 9.6 rating/16 share in households the 8 p.m. half-hour. And that gave lead-out “Young Sheldon” a boost at a dominant 7.9/13 at 8:30 p.m. As predicted, there is now talk of a potential new spin-off from “The Big Bang Theory.” Stay tuned.

Next on CBS was “Big Brother: Celebrity Edition,” which finished second behind ABC drama “A Million Little Things” (4.2/ 7) with a 3.3/ 6. Thanks to the move to Thursday, the alphabet net saved “A Million Little Things,” which is confirmed to return for season two.

The Eye net’s “S.W.A.T.” led the Thursday 10 p.m. hour with a 3.6/ 7, followed by NBC granddaddy “Law & Order: SVU” (3.1/ 6) and “How to Get Away With Murder” on ABC (2.2/ 4). Chances of a renewal for “How to Get Away With Murder” are slim to none.

Earlier in the evening on ABC was veteran “Grey’s Anatomy” at a healthy (and very renewable) 5.3/ 9 at 8 p.m.

On NBC, “The Titan Games” (#3: 2.7/ 5 at 8 p.m.) led into 9-10 p.m. sitcoms “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (#3: 2.2/ 4) and “Will & Grace” (#3: 2.5/ 4). And The CW had nothing unusual with its renewed pairing of dramas “Supernatural” (#5: 1.1/ 2 at 8 p.m.) and “Legacies” (#5: 0.9/ 1 at 9 p.m.). Fox was in repeats.
