Sunday Overnights: ‘The 2019 Grammy Awards’ on CBS on Par with the Year-Ago Telecast

Ratings Breakdown:
It was all about the “61st Annual Grammy Awards,” with the live telecast averaging an estimated 12.7 rating/22 share in the household overnights from 8-11:42 p.m. ET. As a reminder, results for any live telecast are always approximate. Comparably, this was right on par with the 12.9/22 for the telecast in 2018 (on Jan. 28, 2018), and that translated into 19.8 million viewers. For the complete listing of winners, click here

Earlier in the evening on CBS was 7-8 p.m. special “Live From the Grammy Red Carpet” at a dominant 5.5/10 in households.

NBC ducked “The Grammys” with 2016 theatrical “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” which scored a modest 1.7/ 3 in households from 7-10 p.m. That led into a Sunday 10 p.m. ET of “Dateline” at a 1.8/ 4 (#2).

Fox, meanwhile, aired original episodes of its Sunday animated sitcoms despite facing “The Grammys” (see results below). And ABC was in repeats.
