CBS was Tuesday night’s top network among total viewers (12 million), adults 18-49 (1.8 rating/6 share), and adults 25-54 (2.7/7).
CBS also shared the lead among adults 18-34 (1.0/4) with its sister netlet CW — the latter outlet of which was catapulted by “The Flash” as it earned its best adults 18-34 delivery since its series premiere from the fall of 2014. It was the series’ most watched episode in nearly a year, since 2/17/15, and ranked #1 in the hour in both males 18-34 (1.5/7) and females 18-34 (1.4/5; tied with “NCIS” on CBS). CW was TV’s top network among males 18-34 (1.0/4).
On cable, the New Hampshire primary results combined for an average of 8.63 million total viewers in prime time across the three news networks: Fox News Channel (4.17 million), CNN (2.72 million) and MSNBC (1.74 million). It was down from the 10.16 million combo that viewed the Iowa caucus coverage from Feb. 1. Still, there were significant percentage gains from the 2012 New Hampshire coverage when only the Republican field were in the competitive mix: CNN up 145 percent, Fox News up 86 percent and MSNBC up 66 percent.
Fox News Channel also won among adults 25-54 — the advertiser-coveted demo for news — averaging 991,768 people in the demographic. CNN drew 950,610 and MSNBC with 493,692.
