There were lesser available viewers than usual on this Sunday as it was the Easter holiday. Two cable networks — TBS and AMC — led all of television (including mostly original options on ABC, CBS and NBC) among key demos in prime time.
TBS was Sunday’s top network due to the remaining two Regional Final games of the “NCAA Div. I Men’s Basketball Tournament”. From 6-11:01 p.m., TBS averaged 8.82 million total viewers, a 2.83 adults 18-49 rating, a 2.26 adults 18-34 rating, and a 3.24 adults 25-54 rating. Although it won the night, the holiday had a negative effect upon the viewership of these games. The basketball doubleheader was down 30 percent from the year-ago Sunday doubleheader (starting from the mid-afternoon of Mar. 29, 2015 on CBS) and down a quarter (25 percent) from the last time TBS aired a Regional Final doubleheader (from Saturday, Mar. 28, 2015).
AMC was runner-up in key demos in prime time (2.4 adults 18-49 rating, 1.93 adults 18-34 rating, 2.649 adults 25-54 rating). The network averaged 5.2 million viewers from 7-11 p.m. “The Walking Dead” was still Sunday’s No. 1 program but the series drew its least-watched live+same day telecast of an original episode since Oct. 18, 2015.
