‘Night Court’ Sequel in the Works at NBC

NBC has put a sequel of long-running sitcom “Night Court” into development from Warner Bros. Television with John Larroquette set to return as Dan Fielding. The series originally ran from 1984 to 1992, with Larroquette the recipient of four Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. “The Big Bang Theory’s” Melissa Rauch is attached as executive producer.

The new multi-cam show will follow unapologetic optimist judge Abby Stone, daughter of the original series character Harry Stone (Harry Anderson), as she follows in her father’s footsteps to preside over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court. She tries to bring order to its crew of oddballs and cynics, most notably former night court prosecutor Fielding (Larroquette).

Dan Rubin is attached to write and executive produce the project. Rauch and her husband Winston Rauch will executive produce under their After January Productions banner. Larroquette will produce in addition to starring. Warner Bros. Television is the studio.
