Movies:
“Midnight Cowboy” starring Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight was released in 1969. It won three Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and remains the only X-rated film to be honored with a Best Picture Oscar…“Alien”, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton, John Hurt, Ian Holm and Yaphet Kotto opened in 1979. The success of “Alien” spawned a media franchise of films, novels, comic books, video games and toys, among other items… “Return of the Jedi” (“Star Wars Part VI”), produced by George Lucas, was released in 1983. It was the third installment in the original “Star Wars” trilogy, the third film to be produced, and the sixth film in the “Skywalker” saga…“Wonder Woman”, directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine premiered in Los Angeles in 2017. It was the first superhero film directed by a woman.

Henry Ford announced he was ending production of the Model T Ford in 1927…In 2018, Harvey Weinstein turned himself in to New York police to face charges of rape, a criminal sex act, sex abuse and sexual misconduct…The video of George Floyd’s arrest and murder while restrained in Minneapolis police custody shows he was pinned to the ground by police officer Derek Chauvin’s knee for 8 minutes and 46 seconds, ignited widespread condemnation and nationwide protests in 2020. On April 21, Chauvin was found guilty on three charges: second-degree murder, third-degree murder and manslaughter. His bail was immediately revoked and he was placed in custody.

Muhammad Ali KO’d Sonny Liston in 1965 at the Central Maine Civic Center to retain his WBC/WBA heavyweight boxing title….In 1994, Mark Messier delivered on his guarantee that the New York Rangers will defeat the New Jersey Devils in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Final, scoring three goals in a 4-2 victory at Brendan Byrne Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey. It forced a winner-take-all Game 7 of that classic series.
