The TV series adaptation of “The Amazing Spider-Man” starring Nicholas Hammond in the title role of the comic book character concluded its run in 1979. Despite achieving respectable ratings, its expensive production costs led to the filming of only 13 episodes for CBS…”Snoops“, the crime-solver comedy-drama starring real-life married couple Tim Reid and Daphne Maxwell Reid, concluded its 13-episode run on CBS in 1990…ABC sitcom “Room For Two, starring Linda Lavin and Patricia Heaton (pre-“Everybody Loves Raymond”) concluded after one-and-one half seasons in 1993. A total of 26 episodes were produced, but the last two never aired…A jury awarded former NHL player Tony Twist $24 million in 2000 for the unauthorized use of his name in the comic book “Spawn” and the HBO cartoon series. Co-defendant HBO settled with Twist out of court for an undisclosed amount…Home makeover series “While You Were Out” debuted on TLC in 2002. Having premiered at the peak popularity of the same network’s similarly-themed “Trading Spaces“, this program ran for four seasons. It was revived briefly in March 2019, also on TLC…Sketch comedy “Mind of Mencia” created by and starring comedian Carlos Mencia launched on Comedy Central in 2005. It ran for four seasons…Reality competition “I Love Money” hosted by Craig “C.J.” Jackson debuted on VH1 in 2008. Its contestants were from the casts of VH1’s romance shows like “Flavor of Love” and “I Love New York“, among others. The series produced four cycles…Peabody Award-winning comedy-drama “Men of a Certain Age” concluded its two-season run on TNT in 2011. It starred Ray RomanoAndre Braugher and Scott Bakula…ABC daytime lifestyle talk show “The Revolution” concluded its brief six-month stint in 2012. Its hosting panel featured Ty Pennington and Tim Gunn…”Royal Pains“, the comedy-drama about a concierge doctor (Mark Feuerstein) in The Hamptons, ended its series run on USA Network in 2016. It also starred Paulo Costanzo, Reshma Shetty and Henry Winkler. One of the several hit series introduced during the cable network’s successful “Characters Welcome” era, the program produced 104 episodes over eight seasons…”12 Monkeys“, the time-travel sci-fi drama loosely based on the 1995 feature film of the same name, concluded its series run on Syfy in 2018. It ran for 47 episodes across four seasons.

Bud Abbott and Lou Costello comedy “The Naughty Nineties” was released in theaters in 1945. It featured the longest version of their “Who’s on First” routine…“Jetsons: The Movie, based on the classic Hanna-Barbera film of the same name, opened in 1990…“Forrest Gump, starring Tom HanksRobin Wright and Gary Sinise, was released in 1994.

In 1957, United States’ Althea Gibson became the first black female athlete to win the Wimbledon tennis tournament by defeating fellow American Darlene Hard 6-3, 6-2… in one of the most memorable and longest tennis matches in Wimbledon history, Spain’s Rafael Nadal outlasted Switzerland’s Roger Federer 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-7 (8-10), 9-7 to win the men’s singles final in 2008. The match lasted four hours and 48 minutes. It was the first of Nadal’s two career Wimbledon singles titles; Federer was Wimbledon men’s champion from 2003-07.
