ABC scored a rare Thursday household overnight victory as a result of two-hour ABC News special, “Truth and Lies: The Murder of Laci Peterson,” which scored a 3.3 rating/6 share from 9-11 p.m.

Top-rated for the evening among the original entries was CBS’ “Big Brother” (#1: 3.9/ 7 at 9 p.m.), aka “The Paul Show,” which is down to the expected three houseguests. If Paul faces Christmas in the final two, his scheming and lies might cost him the game. And, if he faces Josh, he will likely win with ease. Another edition of “Big Brother” airs this evening at 8 p.m., with the two-hour season-ender next Wednesday. Note to Allison Grodner: please use the extra half-hour in the finale to also include those early players who did not get to the jury. I am sure Jessica has plenty to say. And note to entire crew on “Big Brother”: it was yet another addictive season!

In season-finale news were Fox game shows “Beat Shazam” (#4: 1.8/ 3) and “Love Connection” (#4: 1.7/ 3), which were at typical overnight household levels. Also original was CBS drama “Zoo” (#3: 1.6/ 3 at 10 p.m.), which is not expected to see a fourth season, and The CW’s combination of “Penn & Teller: Fool Us” (#5: 1.0/ 2 at 8 p.m.) and the 9 p.m. half-hour portion of “Whose Line is it Anyway?” (#5: 0.8/ 1).
