ABC, not surprisingly, has picked up veteran medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy” for a 15th season. The network has not confirmed how many new episodes will air in 2018-19, but the assumption is 22 to 24.
“‘Grey’s Anatomy’ has a special place in my heart and millions of viewers feel the same way,” said ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey. “Thanks to fiercely loyal fans who have been on this journey since the beginning, and new generations of viewers who continue to discover the joy and drama of Grey Sloan Memorial, the show is as strong as ever.”
Historically, “Grey’s Anatomy” is ABC longest running primetime series and it will now be tied with NBC’s “ER” as the sixth longest running scripted drama in television history (behind “Gunsmoke” and “Law & Order,” “Law & Order: SVU,” “Lassie” and “NCIS”).
