Amazon Freevee Cancels Freshman Drama ‘High School’

Amazon Freevee has canceled the coming-of-age drama “High School” based on Tegan and Sara Quin’s bestselling memoir after one season. Produced by Amazon Studios and Plan B Entertainment, “High School” was the story about finding your own identity—a journey made even more complicated when you have a twin whose own struggle and self-discovery so closely mimic your own. Told through a backdrop of ‘90s grunge and rave culture, the series weaved between parallel and discordant memories of twin sisters growing up down the hall from one another.

“High School” starred TikTok creators Railey and Seazynn Gilliland in their TV debut as the high school versions of Tegan and Sara, respectively. Cobie Smulders (“How I Met Your Mother”) and Kyle Bornheimer (“Marriage Story”) played the twins’ parents, Simone Bates and Patrick Twiley. Esther McGregor also was a series regular as Natalie.

The now final episode of “High School” aired in October 2022. A total of eight episodes were produced.
