Amy Adams to Star in TV Adaptation of ‘Sharp Objects’

Proposed Series Based on the 2006 Novel of the Same Name by Gillian Flynn

Five-time Oscar nominee Amy Adams (“American Hustle”) will headline a planned TV drama version of 2006 Gillian Flynn novel, “Sharp Objects.” The logline: Adams will play the novel’s protagonist, reporter Camille Preaker, who’s forced to return to her hometown in order to cover the actions of a local serial killer. While there, she’ll also have to contend with all sorts of psychological damage, past and present, including her controlling mother, a history of self-harm that led to a recent stint in a psychiatric hospital, and a lot of comparisons to Rosamund Pike.

Marti Noxon (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) will pen the script and act as showrunner and executive producer of “Sharp Objects,” which is currently being pitched to various cable networks and digital streamers.
