CBS Celebrates the Holidays with ‘I Love Lucy’ and ‘The Dick Van Dyke Show’

Two New Colorized Holiday Specials to Air on Friday, December 22

The “I Love Lucy Christmas Special,” the annual CBS special featuring two back-to-back colorized episodes of the classic series, will be broadcast Friday, Dec. 22 from 8-9 p.m. Featured will “The Christmas Episode” and the newly colorized “The Fashion Show,” featuring Lucy convincing Ricky to allow her to spend up to $100 on a dress at the fashionable Don Loper Salon in Beverly Hills. However, when an opportunity arises for Lucy to participate in a Loper fashion show featuring glamorous movie star wives, Lucy winds up spending five times that!

Leading out of the “I Love Lucy Christmas Special” at 9 p.m. ET on CBS will be “The Dick Van Dyke Show – Now in Living Color!,” a new one-hour special with two newly colorized back-to-back episodes of the beloved 1960s sitcom. The hour will feature the season one episode “My Blonde-Haired Brunette,” written by Carl Reiner, and the season three episode “October Eve,” written by Bill Persky and Sam Denoff. In “My Blonde-Haired Brunette,” Laura (Mary Tyler Moore) dyes her hair blonde when she fears the romance between Rob and her is fading. In “October Eve,” a painting of Laura returns to haunt her when, despite her having posed fully clothed, the artist (played by Reiner) takes the liberty of “undraping” her.
