CBS Eyes ‘FBI’ Spin-Off

Proposed Drama is Called 'FBI: Most Wanted'

Dick Wolf procedural drama “FBI,” which is a firm go for season two, will feature a backdoor pilot for a potential spin-off series. “FBI: Most Wanted,” which is centered around the division of the FBI tasked with  tracking and capturing the notorious criminals on the FBI’s Most Wanted list, will be featured in an episode later this season.

Wolf and frequent collaborator Rene Balcer (who is a consulting producer on “FBI”) will pen the script and executive produce alongside Peter Jankowski — who serves as president and CEO of Wolf Films — and Arthur W. Forney. Fred Berner  (“FBI,” “Chicago PD”) will direct the episode.

Dick Wolf, of course, is no stranger to spawning spinoffs based on the successful track record for the “Law & Order” and “Chicago”-set franchises.

  1. Really, CBS? This show is still in its first season and you think it’s already spin-off time? Even the CSI producers waited until season two to insert the backdoor pilot for CSI: Miami. Lay off the gas and wait until you know the parent show is going to make it past season two.

And that’s not even getting into how thin the premise sounds. Remember how both Criminal Minds spin-offs face planted and aired less than 40 combined episodes? Remember how the only difference between them and the parent show was the cast? It’s obvious no one there is learning from their failures.
