CBS Orders True Crime Anthology Series

First Season to Focus on the JonBenet Ramsey Murder Case

CBS is jumping on the growing true crime anthology series bandwagon with a planned unscripted series to feature a different case each season. First up is the JonBenet Ramsey murder case. Tom Forman (“48 Hours,” “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”) and Critical Content are expected to produce.

The series will reunite original investigators of the infamous case of the 6-year old, who was found dead in her family’s Boulder, Colorado home in 1996. And it will be accompanied by new experts to re-examine the unsolved case. The project has the potential to be a recurring limited-run series that explores a different case each season.

Just yesterday, NBC confirmed that season one of upcoming scripted anthology series “Law & Order: True Crime” would focus on the case of Lyle and Erik Menendez, who, in 1994, were convicted of murdering their parents. And this past Tuesday marked the season-finale of FX’s “American Crime Story: The People v O.J. Simpson.” For years, CBS has also been exploring true crime stories via veteran “48 Hours.”
