CBS Passes on Additional Episodes of ‘Pure Genius’

Medical Drama is the First New Series Cancellation on CBS

CBS has opted against ordered any further episodes of “Pure Genius” past the initial 13, meaning that the medical drama has been canceled. Debuting on Oct. 27, “Pure Genius” is the only new series on the Eye net this fall not to receive a full season pick-up following the additional episodes ordered for sitcoms “Kevin Can Wait,” “Man With a Plan” and “The Great Indoors” and dramas “Bull” and “MacGyver.” Four episodes in and “Pure Genius,” starring Dermot Mulroney and Augustus Prew, is averaging a mere 0.9 rating in adults 18-49 in the Thursday 10 p.m. hour.

There is no word, at present, if CBS plans on airing the remaining nine episodes of “Pure Genius.” Coming up in midseason on the network are new dramas “Doubt,” “Training Day” and “Ransom” and sophomore “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.”
