CBS Renews ‘Criminal Minds’ for Next Season

Veteran Crime Solver Heads Into Season 13

CBS has issued a 13th season renewal to veteran crime solver “Criminal Minds,” with an unspecified number of new episodes ordered for 2017-18. Debuting on Sept. 22, 2005, 277 episodes have been produced by season end. Heading into season 13, “Criminal Minds” will become the 1t1th longest running scripted drama in the history of television (behind “Gunsmoke” and “Law & Order,” “Law & Order: SVU,” “Lassie,” “ER” and “CSI,” “”NCIS” and “Knots Landing,” “Dallas” and “Bonanza”).

“Criminal Minds” is now the 19th current series renewed by the network, joining (in alphabetical order) “The Big Bang Theory,” “Blue Bloods,” “Bull,” “Hawaii Five-O,” “Kevin Can Wait,” “Life in Pieces,” “MacGyver,” “Madam Secretary,” “Man With a Plan,” “Mom,” “NCIS,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “NCIS: New Orleans,” “Scorpion,” “Superior Donuts,” “Survivor,” “48 Hours” and “60 Minutes.”

“Criminal Minds” stars Joe Mantegna, Paget Brewster, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Adam Rodriguez and Damon Gupton. Mark Gordon, Erica Messer and Breen Frazier are executive producers for ABC Studios in association with CBS Television Studios.

There is no word on a potential third season of spin-off “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.”
