CBS Retools Monday; ‘Me, Myself & I’ Out; ‘Man With a Plan Returns’

Freshman Comedy '9JKL' Shifts to 9:30 p.m. ET

CBS, as expected, has pulled freshman comedy “Me, Myself & I” off the schedule and will bring back Matt LeBlanc sitcom “Man With a Plan” for its second season. While not officially canceled, “Me, Myself & I,” starring “SNL’s” Bobby Moynihan, is now technically the first new series cancellation of the season. Production has finished on the 13 episodes ordered and it is unclear when — and if — the remaining episodes will air.

Mirroring last season, “Man With a Plan” will open out of “Kevin Can Wait” at 8:30 p.m. beginning Nov. 13. Current time period occupant “9JKL” will shift to 9:30 p.m. out of “Superior Donuts,” which just returned for season two this week. Drama “Scorpion” remains intact at 10 p.m. ET. Next Monday, a repeat of “The Big Bang Theory” will occupy the Monday 8:30 p.m. time period.

The bottom line: While “Man With a Plan” will likely outscore “9JKL” at 8:30 p.m. (which, moving to 9:30 p.m., could be a minor improvement over “Me, Myself & I”), the key to improving Monday for CBS is finding a stronger comedy than “Kevin Can Wait” to anchor the entire evening.
