College Football 2024 Week 1 TV and Announcer Schedule

The premier game in Week 1 of the NCAA season sees the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs battle the No. 14 Clemson Tigers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta (ABC, Aug. 31 @ 12:00 p.m. ET). Georgia brought in the top recruiting class in the nation, led by ESPN’s No. 1 prospect, cornerback Ellis Robinson IV.

6 PM: Howard @ Rutgers (B1G)
Announcers: Jason Horowitz, Matt Millen, Taryn Hatcher
The Scarlet Knights host the Bison. In 2023, Rutgers defeated Miami 31-24 in the Pinstripe Bowl for its first postseason victory in nine years. Howard appeared in the school’s fourth bowl game, falling 30-26 to Florida A&M in the Celebration Bowl.

7 PM: Western Carolina @ NC State (ACCN)
Announcers: Wes Durham, Tom Luginbill, Dana Boyle
The No. 24 Wolfpack welcome the Catamounts to Raleigh, N.C., for a Tar Heel State tussle. Grayson McCall makes his NC State debut after throwing for 10,005 yards with 88 touchdown passes against 14 interceptions in 42 games at Coastal Carolina.

7:30 PM: UAPB @ Arkansas (ESPNU)
Announcers: Jay Alter, Rocky Boiman
An all-Arkansas affair pits the Razorbacks against the FCS member Golden Lions in Little Rock. Arkansas won the only previous meeting 45-3 in 2021. Razorbacks wide receiver Andrew Armstrong caught 56 passes for 764 yards and five touchdowns in 2023.

8 PM: North Carolina @ Minnesota (FOX)
Announcers: Jason Benetti, Brock Huard, Allison Williams
The Tar Heels and Golden Gophers kick off their 2024 campaigns with this contest in Minneapolis. North Carolina begins life without Drake Maye as the starting quarterback for two years was selected third overall in the 2024 NFL draft by New England.

8 PM: North Dakota State @ Colorado (ESPN)
Announcers: Mark Jones, Roddy Jones, Quint Kessenich
The Buffaloes host the Bison. Colorado was 4-8 in its first season under the exuberant Deion Sanders in 2023. Two-way Buffs star Travis Hunter was named a preseason All-American, while Shedeur Sanders projects to be a high pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

8 PM: Murray State @ Missouri (SEC)
Announcers: Matt Barrie, Dan Mullen, Harry Lyles Jr.
The No. 11 Tigers host the Racers. Missouri’s 11-2 campaign in 2023 was its best since 2014. Brady Cook looks to lead the Tigers into the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff in his final year. Mizzou was No. 9 in last season’s final CFP poll.

8 PM: Coastal Carolina @ Jacksonville State (CBSSN)
Announcers: Jordan Kent, Logan Ryan
Jacksonville State opens the curtain for its second FBS season by hosting Coastal Carolina. The Gamecocks went 9-4 under coach Rich Rodriguez in 2023. Chanticleers quarterback Ethan Vasko runs the offense after Grayson McCall transferred to NC State.

9 PM: Eastern Illinois @ Illinois (B1G)

A showdown between Prairie State foes sees the Fighting Illini square off against the Panthers in Week 1. Bret Bielema sets out in search of his second winning season in year four at the helm of Illinois. These programs last matched up in 2008.

The No. 16 Sooners take the field as an SEC program for the first time as they host the Owls. Brent Venables rebounded from a tough first year at Oklahoma to lead the Sooners to a 10-3 mark in 2023. Temple seeks its first winning campaign since 2019.

7 PM: FAU @ Michigan State (B1G)
Announcers: Jason Ross Jr., Brock Vereen, Dannie Rogers
The Spartans host the Owls. Michigan State hired former Oregon State head coach Jonathan Smith in November 2023 following Mel Tucker’s termination. Smith and MSU also landed Oregon State’s backup quarterback Aidan Chiles in the transfer portal.

7:30 PM: Elon @ Duke (ACCN)

The Blue Devils begin the Manny Diaz era by taking on an in-state foe, the Phoenix. Diaz, back in a head coaching role for the first time since being fired by Miami in 2021, replaces Mike Elko, who left Duke to take the reins at Texas A&M.

9 PM: Western Michigan @ Wisconsin (FS1)
Announcers: Tim Brando, Devin Gardner, Josh Sims
Luke Fickell begins his second year at the helm of the Badgers as they host the Broncos at Camp Randall Stadium. Fickell went 7-6 in his first full campaign after moving from Cincinnati. Western Michigan seeks its first win over Wisconsin since 1988.

10:30 PM: TCU @ Stanford (ESPN)
Announcers: Dave Flemming, Brock Osweiler, Stormy Buonantony
The Cardinal play their first game as members of the ACC against the Horned Frogs. Stanford competed in the Pac-12 conference and its variations since 1968. Cardinal wide receiver Elic Ayomanor was an ACC preseason first-team selection.

Junior quarterback Kyron Drones and the Hokies visit the Commodores. Drones accounted for 22 touchdowns, 17 passing, and 2,903 yards from scrimmage last year. The programs haven’t met since 1989. Vanderbilt last enjoyed a winning season in 2013.

Noon: Kent State @ Pittsburgh (ESPNU)
Announcers: Matt Schumacker, Dustin Fox
Rodney Hammond Jr. and the Panthers host the Golden Flashes. Pittsburgh won all seven meetings with the last in 2003. Hammond paced Pittsburgh in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns last season. Kent State also returns its top runner, Gavin Garcia.

Noon: UConn @ Maryland (FS1)
Announcers: Connor Onion, Mark Helfrich
The Terrapins begin the 2024 campaign by welcoming the Huskies to SECU Stadium. Maryland capped off an 8-5 season in 2023 by knocking off Auburn 31-13 in the Music City Bowl. UConn won the last meeting between the schools in Maryland, 24-21 in 2012.

Noon: Illinois State @ Iowa (FS1)
Announcers: Mark Followill, Anthony Herron, Melanie Ricks
The No. 25 Hawkeyes begin their playoff pursuit when they host the Redbirds. Iowa hopes for a stronger offensive output under college football’s longest-tenured coach, Kirk Ferentz, whose son Brian was replaced by Tim Lester as offensive coordinator.

Noon: Bucknell @ Navy (CBSSN)

The Midshipmen get their 2024 campaign rolling by hosting the Bison in the Old Line State. Brian Newberry went 5-7 in his first season as Navy’s head coach after earning the promotion from defensive coordinator. Bucknell finished 4-7 in 2023.

Noon: Austin Peay @ Louisville (ACCN)
Announcers: Jorge Sedano, Orlando Franklin, Morgan Uber
The Cardinals look to break through as they host the Governors. Jeff Brohm led Louisville to a 10-4 mark in his first season at the helm, the program’s best since joining the ACC in 2014. The Cardinals just missed the cut for the preseason AP Top 25.

12:45 PM: Chattanooga @ Tennessee (SEC)

No. 15 Tennessee hosts Chattanooga for an all-Volunteer State affair. Tennessee junior edge rusher James Pearce Jr. was an AP Preseason All-American first-team selection. Pearce registered 9.5 sacks in 2023, just behind the SEC leaders at 10.

3 PM: Portland State @ Washington State (CW)
Announcers: Ted Robinson, Ryan Leaf, Nigel Burton
The Cougars start a season of transition by hosting the FCS member Vikings. Washington State and Oregon State are the only teams remaining in the Pac-12. Wazzu will also play rival Washington, with Mountain West foes forming the bulk of its schedule.

3:30 PM: Miami (FL) @ Florida (ABC)
Announcers: Joe Tessitore, Jesse Palmer, Katie George
The No. 19 Hurricanes open a crucial campaign versus the Gators. Coach Mario Cristobal enters his third year at Miami with a 12-13 record, but with a new hope under center in Cam Ward. Florida seeks its first winning season under Billy Napier.

3:30 PM: Akron @ Ohio State (CBS)
Announcers: Brad Nessler, Gary Danielson, Jenny Dell
The No. 2 Buckeyes begin their quest for a national title by facing an in-state foe in the Zips. After watching hated rival Michigan claim Big Ten and national championships, Ohio State brought in former UCLA head coach Chip Kelly to run the offense.

3:30 PM: UTEP @ Nebraska (FOX)
Announcers: Jason Benetti, Brock Huard, Allison Williams
Freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola and the Cornhuskers welcome the Miners to Memorial Stadium. The programs have never met. Raiola, who is 6-foot-3, hails from Buford, Ga. Nebraska went 5-7 last season in coach Matt Rhule’s first campaign.

3:30 PM: Colorado State @ Texas (ESPN)
Announcers: Mike Monaco, Kirk Morrison, Dawn Davenport
The No. 4 Longhorns begin life in the SEC by hosting the Rams. Texas was voted to finish second in the conference to No. 1 Georgia in the preseason media poll. Longhorns junior quarterback Quinn Ewers was an SEC second-team selection.

3:30 PM: North Dakota @ Iowa State (FS1)
Announcers: Eric Collins, Spencer Tillman
The Cyclones set their 2024 campaign in motion by squaring off against the Fighting Hawks in Week 1. Signal-caller Rocco Becht begins his sophomore season at Iowa State after throwing 23 touchdown passes against eight interceptions in 2023.

3:30 PM: Miami (OH) @ Northwestern (B1G)
Announcers: Lisa Byington, Jared Thomas, Kylen Mills
The Wildcats host the RedHawks. Quarterback Mike Wright joins Northwestern from Mississippi State. David Braun and the Wildcats went 8-5, and won the Las Vegas Bowl in his first season in charge. Miami (Ohio) was 11-3 and won the MAC in 2023.

3:30 PM: Merrimack @ Air Force (CBSSN)

The Falcons host the FCS member Warriors. Air Force started 8-0 in 2023 before finishing 9-4. The Falcons finished second in the country last season in rushing yards per game with 281.5 after pacing the nation the previous three campaigns.

3:30 PM: Ohio @ Syracuse (ACCN)
Announcers: Chris Cotter, Mark Herzlich, Coley Harvey
Ohio State transfer Kyle McCord takes the keys to the Syracuse offense as it hosts Ohio. McCord tossed 24 touchdown passes with six interceptions for the Buckeyes in 2023, but entered the portal before Ohio State lost to Missouri in the Cotton Bowl.

4 PM: Boise State @ Georgia Southern (ESPNU)
Announcers: Mike Corey, Rene Ingoglia
Spencer Danielson begins his first full season as Broncos head coach by visiting the Eagles. Danielson was promoted to the role last year when Boise State let Andy Avalos go after 10 games. Danielson started 3-0 before falling to UCLA in the LA Bowl.

4:15 PM: Old Dominion @ South Carolina (SEC)
Announcers: Dave Neal, Aaron Murray, Ashley ShahAhmadi
The Gamecocks kick off their campaign by welcoming the Monarchs to Williams-Brice Stadium. Wide receiver Jared Brown makes his South Carolina debut. Brown caught a 75-yard touchdown pass versus Old Dominion while playing for Coastal Carolina in 2022.

The No. 5 Crimson Tide begin life without Nick Saban as they host the Hilltoppers. Saban, who won a record seven national titles, with six coming at Alabama, retired after last season and was replaced with Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer.

Cougars quarterback Donovan Smith faces the Rebels, his hometown team. The Las Vegas native threw for 2,801 yards and 22 TDs, and ran for six scores in 2023. Houston has won all three meetings with UNLV, the last in 2014, by a combined 153-23 line.

The Rainbow Warriors look to keep rolling as they welcome the Bruins to Honolulu. Senior quarterback Brayden Schager accounted for four TDs as Hawaii opened its campaign with a 35-14 triumph over Delaware State. UCLA knocked off Hawaii 44-10 in 2021.

The No. 9 Wolverines begin their national title defense by welcoming the Bulldogs to the Big House. Michigan bid farewell to head coach Jim Harbaugh, who left to take over the NFL’s Chargers, and named coordinator Sherrone Moore as his replacement.

Newly-minted Big Ten school No. 3 Oregon begins its campaign by hosting Idaho. Oregon scored big in the transfer portal, landing senior quarterback Dillon Gabriel from Oklahoma. The Ducks QB enters the season as the Heisman Trophy favorite.

The Wildcats, led by quarterback Brock Vandagriff and a stout defense, host the Golden Eagles. Vandagriff, a former five-star prospect, transferred to Kentucky after appearing in 13 games for Georgia. Kentucky was picked to finish 11th in the SEC.

The Dukes begin the quest for a second straight bowl game by facing the 49ers. James Madison participated in its first bowl game last season, falling to Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl. Bob Chesney replaces Curt Cignetti, who left JMU for Indiana.

HBCU teams in North Carolina Central and Alabama State collide in the Orange Blossom Classic. North Carolina Central is 19-5 over the last two seasons. Alabama State running back Marcus Harris II led the team with four rushing touchdowns in 2023.

4 PM: Black Football Hall of Fame Classic:
Benedict College vs. Virginia State (NFL)

7 PM: Boeing Red Tails Classic: Johnson C. Smith vs. Tuskegee (ESPNU)
Announcers: Jason Ross Jr., Marcus Ray
Tuskegee matches up with Johnson C. Smith in the fourth annual Red Tails Classic from Montgomery, Ala. Tuskegee played Fort Valley State in the first three editions, improving to 1-2 with a 37-31 win last year. The game honors the Tuskegee Airmen.

7:30 PM: Vegas Kickoff Classic: USC vs. LSU (ABC)

The No. 23 Trojans and No. 13 Tigers, sans star quarterbacks, engage in the Vegas Kickoff Classic. USC’s Caleb Williams was the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL draft by Chicago. LSU’s Jayden Daniels, the Heisman Trophy winner, went second to Washington.
