DIRECT TO GARMENT PROCESS

Step 1:

The graphic artists on our team work closely with our digital printing experts to ensure that every order is designed professionally. To ensure that your finished product meets your expectations, we work diligently with you. We begin by asking for the highest resolution image you currently have. Image resolution is of utmost importance!

Step 2:

If you provide us with an image, our designers will be happy to work with it, even if it needs a bit of polishing. The art of transforming designs into masterpieces has been mastered by us. If your business needs raw logo image files, request them from your web developer or marketing department.

Step 3:

When you place a new order for five or more pieces, we’ll send you a digital copy of this updated work (a proof) and ask that you approve it before printing begins. Unless it’s especially complex, we won’t send you a proof for a re-order or new order of four pieces or fewer, unless you request one during checkout.

Step 4:

Pixels are important when printing. The image you see is composed of hundreds of thousands (sometimes millions) of pixels, the smallest measurable points in a picture. A mosaic image is more detailed and obvious if it contains a large number of pieces within a canvas.

How does “pre-treating” work for DTG printing?

It’s important to pre-treat 99% of DTG printed t-shirts – so don’t forget!

There is almost always a need to pre-treat garments that:

  • Dark colors like black or navy
  • White ink will be used to print them
  • Consider pre-treatment for DTG as primer for painting.

It creates a vibrant and long-lasting ink by acting as an underbase. A DTG print that is not pre-treated will appear dull and faded, or worse, won’t adhere to the garment at all.

The pre-treat process is typically applied by a DTG pre-treat machine, though many shops apply it by hand using rollers.

DTG printing is time-consuming and costly because of pre-treatment. Screen printers often run into this problem when they move to DTG printing.

In some cases, pre-treating can take more than a minute. Professional-quality prints require pre-treatment, which can be expensive.
