Fox Renews ‘Last Man Standing’ and ‘The Resident’ for 2020-21

Both Series Will Return in Midseason

Fox has greenlit Tim Allen comedy “Last Man Standing” and medical drama “The Resident” for the 2020-21. “Last Man Standing” will enter its third season on Fox (and ninth overall following ABC’s unexpected cancellation in 2017), and the fourth season for “The Resident.” Both series will air on the network in midseason. At nine seasons, “Last Man Standing” will now have aired longer than Allen’s prior hit, “Home Improvement,” which ran on ABC from 1991 to 1999.

“Last Man Standing” follows Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a happily married father of three daughters, who finds himself the odd man out as he tries to maintain his manliness in a home dominated by women. The sitcom also stars Nancy Travis, Amanda Fuller, Molly McCook, Christoph Sanders, Jordan Masterson, Jonathan Adams, Krista Marie Yu, and Hector Elizondo.

“The Resident” follows a group of doctors at Chastain Memorial Hospital, as they face personal and professional challenges on a daily basis. The series stars Matt Czuchry, Emily VanCamp, Bruce Greenwood, Manish Dayal, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Jane Leeves and Morris Chestnut.
