Friday Final Nationals: ABC Earns 14-Year Friday Best in Adults 18-49 Delivery with Warriors-Cavaliers NBA Finals Game 4

The “NBA Finals” on ABC won the night across all of television for the 59th consecutive time. It also marked ABC’s best Friday night adults 18-49 delivery in over 14 years — since Jan. 3, 2003 (Ohio State-Miami in Fiesta Bowl for the 2002 BCS National Championship).

Game 4 of the Warriors-Cavaliers series delivered an average of 19.012 million viewers with an additional average minute streaming audience of 375,000 viewers.

With a total audience delivery of 19.38 million viewers, the telecast ranks as the second biggest audience for an NBA Finals Game 4 since 2004 (L.A. Lakers-Detroit on ABC: 20.3 million). Only the 2015 Game 4 (Golden State-Cleveland on ABC from June 11, 2015: 19.84 million viewers) drew more within that time span.

Compared to last year’s Warriors-Cavaliers Game 4 (June 10, 2016), it grew 15 percent in total viewership (TV + streaming) — 19.387 million vs. 16.867 million.

Game 4 peaked on ABC with 22.45 million viewers from 11-11:30 p.m. ET.

Friday night’s broadcast delivered a 35.5 rating in the Cleveland market and a 32.1 rating in the San Francisco-Oakland market. The other top local markets include: Columbus (18.9); Sacramento (16.8); Memphis (16.5); Atlanta (16.0); San Antonio (15.6); Miami (15.4); Birmingham (14.7); Chicago (14.3).

Thru the first four games, the 2017 NBA Finals are up 11 percent in total viewers (19.4 million; best average since 1998), +8 percent in the 18-49 demo (7.0) and +7 percent in household rating (10.8) from 2016.
