Greta Van Susteren Exits Fox News

The News Comes Just After 21st Century Fox Settled a Lawsuit with Former Network Host Gretchen Carlson

Longtime Fox News host Greta Van Susteren has abruptly exited Fox News Channel after 14 years with the network. Senior political analyst Brit Hume will take over for Van Susteren’s 7 p.m. show “On the Record” starting immediately, and running through the election. It isn’t clear what will happen to the timeslot after the election.

“We are grateful for Greta’s many contributions over the years and wish her continued success,” Fox co-presidents Jack Abernathy and Bill Shine said in a statement.

No reasons were given in the Fox News announcement for Van Susteren’s departure.

A source close to the situation said it was a financial disagreement that led to Van Susteren’s departure. News of Van Susteren’s departure comes just after an announcement that 21st Century Fox had settled a lawsuit with former network host Gretchen Carlson for $20 million. Carlson filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Ailes approximately two months ago. Ailes resigned amid an internal investigation two weeks after Carlson filed the suit and denied the allegations.
