After weeks of speculation, streamer HBO Max has confirmed it is moving forward on a “Sex and the City” revival care of a new limited series. Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis will reprise their roles of Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte, respectively. Kim Cattrall, as expected, will not be reprising her role as Samantha. There is no word on which, if any, of the remaining supporting cast will be returning.
The original series, of course, ran for six seasons on HBO, from 1998 to 2004, and there were two follow-up theatricals: “Sex and the City” in 2008, and “Sex and the City 2” in 2010. A third film that was planned was nixed due to Cattrall’s lack of interest.
The show garnered numerous Emmys during its time on the air — including Outstanding Comedy Series in 2001 and wins for Parker and Nixon, both in 2004.
