HBO Renews ‘My Brilliant Friend’ for a Third Season

HBO and Italian broadcaster RAI have renewed the coming of age drama series “My Brilliant Friend” for a third season, with an order for eight new episodes. Debuting on December 10, 2018 on HBO and based on bestselling book series by Elena Ferrante, the series begins when the disappearance of her old friend causes Elena Greco to look back on the early days of their friendship in Naples, Italy. Each season represents a different part of the four-part book series.

Season three of “My Brilliant Friend” will be based on “Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay,” Ferrante’s third book in the series and is a The Apartment, Wildside and Fandango production with Lorenzo Mieli and Mario Gianani producing for Fremantle’s The Apartment and Wildside and Domenico Procacci producing for Fandango.

This new third season is expected in 2021.
