HBO Renews ‘Perry Mason’ for Season Two

Sophomore Season Expected in 2021

HBO has greenlit the reboot of “Perry Mason,” starring Matthew Rhys, for a second season, with an unconfirmed number of new episodes for 2021. Debuting on June 21, the legal drama follows the origins of American fiction’s most legendary criminal defense lawyer, Perry Mason. 

“Perry Mason” also features John Lithgow, Tatiana Maslany, Juliet Rylance, Chris Chalk, Shea Whigham, Stephen Root, Gayle Rankin, Nate Corddry, Veronica Falcon, Jefferson Mays, Lili Taylor, Andrew Howard, Eric Lange, and Robert Patrick. The executive producers (in alphabetical order) are Amanda Burrell, Robert Downey Jr., Susan Downey, Ron Fitzgerald, Joe Horacek, Rolin Jones, and Timothy Van Patten (who also directs).

The original “Perry Mason,” starring Raymond Burr, aired on CBS from 1957 to 1966. The first revival, “The New Perry Mason,” starred Monte Markham and ran on CBS in the 1973-74 season.
