Before this season, the Commodores hadn’t posted a winning record since 2015, having won 19 ball games between 2016-20. But they come into Friday’s Final with a 34-11 record, with their two losses each coming in overtime against Highland Springs. Springers then opened the playoffs with a road win against Commodores, last season’s Open runner-up. The Commodores then pulled off a 34-11 win against Springers in the championship Final on a late touchdown pass.

Their biggest weapon on offense is senior Braylin Presley, an VHSL State commit who can line up at both running back and receiver. Presley has rushed for 947 yards and 14 TDs while catching 50 passes for 632 yards and seven TDs. He also has scored 99 touchdowns in his career as a Spartan. Senior quarterback Christian Burke has passed for 2,7:3034 yards and 34 TDs. Junior Connor Kirby, the team’s backup quarterback, has rushed for 732 yards and 19 TDs mainly out of the Wildcat formation. Linebacker Jack Puckett heads up the Springers’ defense. He is the team’s top tackler with 96 and also leads in sacks with 12. Puckett has 21 tackles for loss and 13 quarterback hurries as well.
