Electric bikes have become increasingly popular in the United States. If current projections hold, what was once a relative niche market will blossom into 17 million sales per year by 2030. Other research shows the market may have an 8.4% CAGR over the next seven years. The demand for these bikes is growing for obvious reasons: they’re inexpensive methods of transportation that have quite a few benefits over traditional bikes. For example, you may choose to manually pedal to work every day or let the bike’s electric motor do the work instead. Also, it’s no longer impossible to get around on a bike if you hurt your knee!
These bikes also open up new experiences that were previously challenging with bikes. Hills, beaches, and other terrains that would have historically been tough to pedal on become much more manageable when an electric motor is doing that work. In a way, electric bikes have helped people worldwide fall in love with cycling all over again.
Even though this industry is relatively new, there’s quite a bit of competition. And some electric bikes are pricey. With everything going on worldwide, the idea of shelling out many thousands of dollars for an electric bike is not that appealing. Instead, most people are looking for something solid, reliable, and – perhaps most importantly – affordable!
Luckily, there’s the Himiway Cruiser!
Here are three reasons why this electric bike is arguably the best affordable long-range bike in its class.
The Himiway Cruiser Has a Smooth Ride
No bicycle ride is fun if the terrain is uneven and bumpy. While city streets are (usually) alright in this regard, when you get on sidewalks or going off-roading, that’s where the bumps start to make an impact. Even experienced cyclists can feel the pain as they keep going over these deformations in the terrain.
One of the standout features of the Himiway Cruiser is that it has an incredibly smooth ride. Indeed, the Himiway Cruiser is a fat-tire electric bike. Practically, this means that the tires are much broader and more pronounced than other bikes, both electric and traditional. Being a little wider and more pronounced gives the tires more surface area and cushioning to absorb impact. Indeed, the Cruiser has 26″ x 4″ Kenda fat tires. By contrast, the average bike tire is about 23mm, or less than one inch!
In addition to smoothness, the Himiway Cruiser also has added stability. The broader tire means that it feels grounded compared with other traditional bicycles.
It Has All the Electronics to Make Riding Fun
The Himiway Cruiser also makes riding fun thanks to its well-placed set of electronics. The controls are in three different places: the central LCD screen, the left thumb, and the right thumb. With your left thumb on the handlebars, you can control the power, headlight, and other functions available on the central LCD screen. With your right thumb, you can shift the gears. Pretty simple, right!
The central LCD screen shows the battery and pedal assist levels, speed, odometer, and wattmeter. It’s well-organized, showing just the right amount of information that you need when you’re riding.
There are plenty of touches too that show how much Himiway thought about this bike. The fact that this bike includes a USB charger is one of those. iPhone dying as you’re biking? No problem! Plug it in and get it charged! If you rely on GPS for navigation while cycling, this additional juice can be a lifesaver.
Three Modes Empower You to Bike the Way You Want
Another terrific aspect of this e-bike is that it includes a powerful motor. Indeed, it’s a 750W motor, which is high for a bike in this price range. Of course, there are more powerful bikes, but they typically cost quite a bit more too.
The inclusion of a 750W motor enables this bike to operate in three modes.
The first mode involves no electric assists. In this mode, you’ll pedal the bike just as you would any other bike you own. One thing to keep in mind (and this is not just the Himiway, but every electric bike) is that these bikes tend to be heavier thanks to the battery. The Cruiser is 72lbs, so pedaling with zero assists can sometimes be a little trickier.
There’s also pedal-assist mode, where the motor kicks in for 1/4 to 1/2 of the rotation of the pedals. This electric assistance makes it easier to pedal but still requires some manual effort. There are five levels of pedal assistance, from 12mph up to about 22mph, depending on how fast you want to go. With pedal-assist mode enabled, you can go as far as 60 miles.
Finally, there’s the all-electric mode. In this mode, you can cruise up to 22mph without any pedaling required. Tired? No problem! You can have the bike take you up to 35 miles in all-electric mode. Of course, if you have been using the pedal-assist method, that distance will be less since you will have used some electricity in that mode.
Ultimately, there’s enough variability here that no matter what you’re feeling – from a leisurely cruise to an intense workout – you can have it with the Himiway Cruiser.
Himiway Cruiser: A Well-Rounded Bike
The Cruiser is fun. There’s simply no other way to describe it. It’s a well-crafted machine that uses high-end components, like a 6061 aluminum frame and a Samsung battery. The wider tires provide stability for almost all terrain types, and there’s enough juice in this bike to last anywhere between 35 and 60 miles. This bike has enough all-electric power to get you from Disneyland to Downtown LA (no pedaling) to give you a sense of how significant that distance is. Or, you could potentially go round-trip from Times Square to JFK Airport and back to Times Square again – all on a single charge and without any pedaling.
At a list price of $1,599, this bike checks all the right boxes. Long range? Yep, it has it! Affordable? Yes, consider that this bike will take you long distances. Quiet, comfy ride? Again, yes, this bike has that too.
You’ll be hard-pressed to find anything better at this price. It’s easily the best and most well-thought-out e-bike in its class!
