If you want to know how to choose a notebook for programming with Java, PHP, C (# or ++), Python, Visual Studio, SQL…You have come to the right place. Here we will see what you need to remember at the time of purchase. Pay attention to the tips that we will pass. But remember, each case is a case.
The choice of a notebook that is good for programming should be based on the system requirements of the development platform, but also on your personal requirements and form of use. You can choose among cheap laptops as long as you follow the following points.
Here are some key points to keep in mind, here are recommendations that will help you choose the right one:
Processor to spare
While some languages are lighter, the kind that don’t even require compilation (like web-based programming), we’re talking about a work notebook. So it is good to invest in a good thing, after all you will spend many hours on equipment, which will be your great daily partner. The indication is simple: Go for today’s Core i5 and i7 processors. Currently the 8th generation!
RAM matters a lot
Same as the above, it can vary a lot, but it is worth investing to spare. Think of a notebook with at least 8 GB or more of RAM, so you can install heavy applications that require compilation. Another point is if you like many windows open at the same time. The rule is always: the more the merrier. But remember, there are also models that allow expansion with more “combs” of memory.
Storage should not be the problem
There are cases where programming is done all online, and clean codes can fit in a simple notepad. Any basic notebook comes with at least 500 GB of HD or 120 GB of SDD, so we believe space is not the problem.
For speed, invest in an SSD.
There is always an alternative, whether replacing the original hard drive with an SSD, using a Caddy adapter instead of the obsolete disk drive (CD / DVD). Or on newer models that support M2 type SSD (which are like a memory comb). Although more expensive, they offer superior performance and help save battery power. It is noteworthy that, if necessary, it is always possible to increase the notebook space by buying an external hard drive or “giant” drives.
Screen size to program
This factor impacts many details, whether in size, weight and even if it fits in your backpack or briefcase. Suitable for comfortable work is at least 15 ″ inches as it is much more productive and comfortable than spending hours looking at a small screen.
Setting up a workstation is what there is
Creating a space where you can dock a second monitor screen, keyboards and mouse can greatly enhance productivity. An important detail is the posture, which is often wrong when looking at a notebook (looking down). There are always alternatives such as supports, bases and the like. Still strongly consider investing in a quality space, either in business or at home. It is worth taking a few extra dollars from your pocket for your “quality of life”. For this reason the resolution is relative, it is up to you to evaluate FULL HD options or even higher. But if it’s best to carry or if you prefer, you can get a mini notebook to your liking.
We hope these tips can be helpful when it comes to buy a new notebook.
