‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ and ‘Better Things’ Snag Renewals

Number of New Episodes Ordered Not Confirmed for Either Comedy

Comedies “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” on FXX and “Better Things” on FX will be returning for the 2020-21 TV season. This will take “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” into season 15, which will make it the longest-running live action comedy (ahead of ABC’s “The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet,” which aired from 1952 to 1966). “Ozzie & Harriet,” however, still stands above any other comedy in episode count, with 435 half-hours versus 154 for “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” through season 14.

Debuting on FX in August 2005, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” moved to FX with the ninth season in 2013.

“Better Things,” starring Pamela Adlon, launched on FX in September 2016 and has produced 42 episodes through season four.

Renewals for FX’s “What We Do In the Shadows” and “Breeders,” and FXX’s “Dave” have been previously announced.
