‘Jeopardy!’ Contestant Proposes to His Girlfriend in the Middle of His Game

Alex Trebek noted on the Thursday, Sep. 27 edition of “Jeopardy!” that when he interviews contestants during the introduction segment of the program, he bases his information from tidbits printed on his cards. But on this night, Trebek’s card for the contestant named Michael Pascuzzi, a retail store manager from Orlando, Fla., was blank. Pascuzzi replied, “I could fill it in for you.”

He continued, “I just wanted to say one quick thing, and ask Maria Shafer right there. If she would make me a winner today and marry me. Will you marry me?”

Shafer quickly replied, “Yes of course!”

Trebek joked, “I was about to say we’ll have the answer to that question right after this commercial break.”

“That would be… what is yes?” Shafer said.
