‘Jeopardy’ Contestants Completely Stumped by Football

For the week leading up to Super Bowl LII, the game show “Jeopardy!” dedicated one category to the sport on the Feb. 1, 2018 edition entitled “Talkin’ Football.”

But the category proved to be a bust for all the night’s participating contestants. Not one of them buzzed in with a guess for each of the five clues provided.

After the $400 clue, host Alex Trebek quipped, “Do you think we should go to commercial?” When it came to the category’s toughest $1,000 clue that referred to the moniker of the Minnesota Vikings’ defense that led them to four different Super Bowls in the 1970’s (“The Purple People Eaters”), Trebek remarked “If you guys ring in and get this one, I will die.”
