‘Little Mermaid’ Follow-Up Series ‘Washed Up’ in the Works at Peacock

Potential Show Based on the Hans Christian Anderson Classic

Streamer Peacock has put into development “Washed Up,” based on Hans Christian Andersen’s classic “The Little Mermaid.” The logline to the potential series: Fifteen years after giving up her tail to marry a prince at age 17, the young princess is now miserable, unmotivated and in a loveless marriage. But when her father suddenly dies, she suspects foul play and embarks on an epic adventure to save not only her underwater kingdom but all of humankind!

“Washed Up” is from writer-producer Gracie Glassmeyer and will be set at CBS TV Studios, where Glassmeyer has an overall deal. Sutton Street’s Jennie Snyder Urman and Joanna Klein also executive produce.

In addition, Glassmeyer and Urman are also developing another dark comedy series for HBO Max titled “Here She Lies,” which will reunite them with Yael Grobglas from The CW’s “Jane the Virgin,” who has signed on for the lead role.
