Tournament Preview:

The Rogers Cup, also known as Canadian Open or the Canadian Masters, is an annual tennis tournament that is played in Toronto and Montreal. There are both, the men’s and the women’s singles and doubles match in this competition.

In the last 2019 Rogers Cup, Rafael Nadal was the winner of Men’s Single and Bianca Andreescu was the winner of the Women’s Single.

The men’s doubles event was won by Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos, while the winner of the Women’s Double was Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina S.

The men’s event is going to have a draw of 48 players for singles and 28 teams in doubles. The women’s event will have a draw of 56 players in singles and 28 teams in doubles.

Even though the tournament is conducted in the same week for men and women, the ATP and the WTA matches are played at different venues – they alternate between Toronto and Montreal every year. So in 2021, the men’s competition will be held in Toronto and the women’s tournament will be played in Montreal after the 2020 event was canceled because of the pandemic.

The event is attended by some of the most prominent names on both circuits. Interestingly, after the US Open and Wimbledon, Rogers Cup is the only tournament to have been around longer than the others, with the men’s Rogers Cup having begun in 1881 and the women’s competition about 11 years after that.

Rogers Cup 2021: Where and when?

The 2021 Rogers cup is going to happen in Montreal and Toronto. In Montreal, Stade IGA will be the court hosting this event. The center court stadium can hold 11,815 spectators and in Toronto, the tournament will be played on Aviva Centre.

The court has a capacity of 12,500 and is the largest stadium at the tennis complex. The people of Montreal and Toronto will have the opportunity to watch the matches from the court.

The 2020 Rogers Cup for men was to be played from August 9-16 in Toronto and during the same dates for women in Montreal. The qualifying rounds for the tournament were to kick-start from three days before the start of the tournament before the competition got canned because of the coronavirus pandemic.
