‘Lizzy McGuire’ Sequel Series in the Works at Disney Plus

Hillary Duff to Reprise Iconic Role

Disney Channel hit comedy “Lizzie McGuire” is getting a revival on Disney Plus, with Hilary Duff returning to star as the title character. Duff will play a now-30-year-old Lizzie, making a life for herself in New York City. The series will also bring back the animated Lizzie from the original, who voices the human Lizzie’s innermost feelings and fears. Original creator Terri Minsky will return to produce the new series as well.

The original “Lizzie McGuire,” which ran on the Disney Channel from 2001 to 2004, centered around the titular 13-year old who struggled to navigate middle school.

The series also starred Lalaine as Miranda Isabella Sanchez and Adam Lamberg as David Zephyr “Gordo” Gordon, Lizzie’s best friends, as well as Jake Thomas as her brother Matthew “Matt” McGuire, and Hallie Todd as Joanne “Jo” McGuire, her mother, and Robert Carradine as Samuel “Sam” McGuire, Lizzie’s father.
