Ratings Breakdown:
Dominant CBS got a boost from the 2016 Masters Tournament, which bled into primetime with a 9.2 rating/16 share in the household overnights in the 7 p.m. half-hour. This means that results for the Eye net programming roster is approximate and appears as follows by half-hour:
CBS/Sunday
7:30 p.m. “60 Minutes”: 8.4/14 (#1)
8:00 p.m. “60 Minutes”: 8.7/14 (#1)
8:30 p.m. “Madam Secretary”: 6.8/11 (#2)
9:00 p.m. “Madam Secretary”: 6.8/10 (#1)
9:30 p.m. “Elementary”: 4.4/ 7 (#1)
10:00 p.m. “Elementary”: 4.3/ 7 (#1)
10:30 p.m. “Elementary: 4.0/ 7 (#1)
Second-place NBC was on the map care of bona fide hit “Little Big Shots,” hosted by Steve Harvey, which scored a 7.2/12 in the household overnights from 8-9 p.m. Comparably, that was an increase of six percent from the 6.8/11 one week earlier. A stronger “Little Big Shots” resulted in week to week overnight growth for sitcoms “Carmichael” (#2: 3.5/ 5) and “Crowded” (#2: 2.7/ 4) from 9-10 p.m. and “Dateline” (#2: 3.2/ 6) at 10 p.m.
In the 7 p.m. hour on NBC last night was an encore telecast of “Little Big Shots” at a second-place 3.6/ 6.
Elsewhere, the overnight results were nothing to boast about. Veteran “America’s Funniest Home Videos” on ABC (#3: 3.0/ 5 at 7 p.m.) led into the deteriorating combination of “Once Upon a Time” (#3: 2.4/ 4), recent drama entry “The Family” (#3: 2.4/ 4) and “Quantico” (#3: 2.5/ 5) from 8-11 p.m. Don’t be fooled in think that “Quantico” is a big hit. It is not.
Fox; meanwhile, barely registered with its 7-10 p.m. line-up of “Bordertown” (#4: 0.8/ 1), “Cooper Barrett Controls the Universe” (#4: 0.7/ 1), granddaddy “The Simpsons” (#4: 1.5/ 2), “Bob’s Burgers” (#4: 1.4/ 2), a repeat of “Family Guy” (#4: 1.5/ 2) and recently renewed “The Last Man on Earth” (#4: 1.8/ 3). At this point, there is no reason to believe “Bordertown” or “Cooper Barrett Controls the Universe” will be returning next season.

Those ABC and Fox numbers are horrendous.
Pretty good bounce back week for NBC as it looks like the stronger competition last week and Easter the week before finally got their Sunday lineup back up to where it’s supposed to be. Very funny episodes for Carmichael and Crowded last night.
ABC and FOX had dreadful numbers, both networks need a complete overhaul on Sundays. Like I’ve said before FOX should move The Simpsons and Family Guy over to Tuesdays and rebuild Sundays as a major night for them while they have the NFL lead-in in the fall.
Fox is just a disaster right now. I think Empire is their only show with hit status ratings? Maybe the X-Files?
It really is and this was a network that thought they were ready to move on from Idol next season. Empire is their only show right now with hit status and it’s a fad so the show is likely to really fall off in the next couple of years. X-Files is their only other great performer so FOX should bring that show back to Sundays like they had it back in the 90s.
Would the two principal actors be willing to do more than the short seasons?
It’s possible but it all depends on their workload if they only want to do short seasons then FOX can only do shorten seasons hopefully both sides will compromise to do at least 13-episode seasons because six is not enough.
But unlike the late 90’s, Sundays are dominated by the NFL and Walking Dead. Mondays seem like a better fit.
Things have changed as of these days but I feel Walking Dead is about to start really slipping which is natural as the show is a fad that’s becoming older so in about another year or two it won’t be a factor but the NFL will always be a factor in the fall.
I do think Mondays are a good spot for it right now but FOX still needs to overhaul Sundays, FOX could actually compete pretty well if they use the NFL lead-in on something different.
Walking Dead won’t slip to below double-digit millions in the immediate future so it’s still a worry. Fox does need to capitalize on Sundays — maybe a female-oriented drama to counteract the male audiences that watch NBC and AMC?
Well not next year but I’d give it at least 2-3 years plus people were mad at the finale so I’m sure wear and tear on the age of the show is going to really start to kick in. It’ll eventually settle in at Fear the Walking Dead levels.
That NFL lead-in needs to be utilized more by FOX and CBS as I think FOX could easily bring viewers to their network and a female strategy would work against Sunday Night Football.
ANY network would salivate for at least Fear the Walking Dead ratings levels.
Hell yeah they would but if The Walking Dead reached those levels then it stops becoming a real factor competition wise to the other networks like this past Sunday some of the networks had their best week in like a month that night.
