The Memorial Cup pits the winners of the Western Hockey League (WHL), Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), and Ontario Hockey League (OHL) together, along with a fourth host-team squad.

This year’s tournament will take place in Saint John, N.B., with the games starting on Monday, June 20.

The 2022 Memorial Cup will run for 10 days at the end of June, starting on Monday, June 20. The four teams will play each other once in a round-robin.

Standings:

The Saint John Sea Dogs secured a berth in Wednesday’s championship game by defeating Hamilton 5-3 on Saturday in the final round-robin match. William Dufour, the MVP of the QMJHL, scored four goals in the win.

Saint John finished first in the four-team field with a 2-0-0-1 record and seven points. It will face the winner of Monday’s semifinal game between the Hamilton Bulldogs and Shawinigan Cataractes.

Hamilton earned a place in the semi by eliminating the Edmonton Oil Kings 4-2 on Friday.

Where is the Memorial Cup 2022 Taking Place?

Saint John is the host city for the 2022 Memorial Cup. All games will be played at TD Station, the home of the Sea Dogs.

The club won the bid to host the 2022 tournament over the Quebec Remparts. It’s the first time Saint John is hosting the CHL tournament.

Edmonton Oil Kings

The Oil Kings are competing in the Memorial Cup for the third time in club history and the first time since the team won it all in 2014. They were the winner of the 2022 WHL Championship.

Hamilton Bulldogs

The Bulldogs are back in the Memorial for the second time in the last three tournaments — their only two appearances in Memorial Cup history. They are fresh off winning their second OHL championship.

Shawinigan Cataractes

Shawinigan returns to the Memorial Cup for the first time since 2012, when they won it as the host city. This year marks the club’s third appearance in the tournament, coming off their QMJHL title.

Saint John Sea Dogs

The Sea Dogs are the host team of the 2022 tournament, getting an automatic bid as one of the four teams. This is the club’s fourth time playing in the Memorial Cup.
