Ratings Breakdown:
It was a typical Monday, with ABC first in the household overnights and the home of “The Voice,” NBC, the network to beat in adults 18-49 (and all the key young demographics). “Dancing with the Stars” scored a healthy 8.0 rating/13 share from 8-10 p.m., which was right on par with the year ago evening. And competing “The Voice” averaged a 6.1/10, which was also close to year-ago levels. But the problem remains the 10 p.m. hour, with both sophomore “Quantico” on ABC (#3: 2.1/ 3) and “Taken” on NBC (#2: 3.0/ 4) declining considerably from their lead-ins. That hour is pivotal, of course, because it airs into the late local news.

Tops in the 10 p.m. hour was “Scorpion” on CBS at a 4.4/ 7, which built from the season (or series) finale of lead-in “2 Broke Girls” (#3: 3.2/ 5 at 9:30 p.m.) by 37 percent. CBS, at press time, has not announced if “2 Broke Girls” will continue for a seventh season.

Earlier in the evening on CBS were already renewed sitcoms “Kevin Can Wait” (#3: 3.9/ 6), “Man with a Plan” (#3: 3.5/ 6) and “Superior Donuts” (#3: 3.4/ 5) at overnight levels close to one week earlier. Personally, I consider “Superior Donuts” the best new comedy this season.

In other season (or series) finale news was “24: Legacy” on Fox at an uneventful 2.6/ 4 at 8 p.m., which was only equal to year-ago occupant “Gotham” (which returns next week). Kiefer Sutherland is the “24” brand, so to do it without him might not have been the best idea.

“24: Legacy” led into a 1.9/ 3 at 9 p.m. for also recent crime themed entry “APB,” which concludes next week and is unlikely to be renewed for a second season.

The CW capped off the night with repeats of “Supergirl” (#5: 0.7/ 1) and a Monday edition of “Penn & Teller: Fool Us” (#5: 0.5/ 1).
