The Week 12 “Monday Night Football” game – a Green Bay Packers 27-13 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles – helped ESPN win the night among all networks (broadcast or cable) in households, viewers and all key male and adult demos (18-34, 18-49 and 25-54). (Source: ESPN)
Including this game, ESPN has won the night among all key male and adult demos 11 times this season, and nine times among households and viewers. The MNF game also ranked as the No. 1 telecast of the night among households, viewers and all key male and adult demos.
Packers-Eagles delivered a total live audience (TV + Streaming) of 13.383 million average viewers. This is ESPN’s second-largest “MNF” audience of the 2016 season, behind the week-four Giants-Vikings game, which delivered a total live audience of 13,494,000 average viewers from Oct. 3.
· On TV (ESPN and ESPN Deportes), the game delivered 13,129,000 average viewers.
· On ESPN, the game averaged a 7.8 US household rating. The game rating peaked during the 9:30-9:45 p.m. quarter hour with a 9.2 household rating and 15,510,000 viewers.
· ESPN’s streaming audience for Packers-Eagles attracted an additional average minute audience of 254,000 viewers across the ESPN and ESPN Deportes streams, a 96 percent gain year-over-year. Between the two streams there were 616,000 viewers who watched 51 million live minutes – up 52 and 87 percent year-over-year, respectively.
In Milwaukee, the game delivered a 17.4 rating on ESPN and a 27.4 on WISN-ABC, for a combined 44.8 rating in the market. In Philadelphia, the game delivered a 13.8 rating on ESPN and a 16.1 on WPVI-ABC, for a combined 29.9 rating in the market.
The top metered markets (not including those of the competing teams): Norfolk (14.5), Minneapolis-St. Paul (13.5), Richmond-Petersburg (13.2), New Orleans (11.4), San Diego (11.3), Seattle-Tacoma (11.0), Albuquerque-Santa Fe (10.9), Kansas City (10.7), Las Vegas (10.5), West Palm Beach (10.4).
On the CW, the four-part, four-night ‘Heroes vs. Aliens’ storyline began on this Monday night on “Supergirl” (2.1 household rating, 3.53 million viewers, 1.1 adults 18-49 rating), giving that series its best ratings to-date since it moved to the netlet from its parent network CBS.
Leading out of “Supergirl”, “Jane the Virgin” (1.15 million viewers) earned its most-watched same-day telecast since 5/11/15.

Supergirl is on fire beating all shows in men 18-49 and tying 1st place in demo ratings for the night!
Still dead last after spending tons of money in promos and trailers…
Sorry, but the fire is on-board CW.
As for demo numbers only being used for PR spin… Case in point.
You are a nice breath of fresh air when it comes to commenting on someone’s favorite show! SMH!
Ignore her. She’s a lost cause.
I’ve started to see that. Thanks.
How am I a “lost cause”?
Because I won’t let myself be swayed by PR spin?
Because I won’t comment from a fan’s perspective?
If you have actual arguments, I’ll be delighted to discuss them with you, but what you’re doing now is just trying to bully me.
It won’t work. 🙂
People just wonder why you are making it your appointed duty to wee-wee in their Cheerios. Why does it bother you that other people are happy? It’s not like you are convincing anyone that you are correct. All it does it annoy them.
Well… “people” who don’t usually post here and want to dictate what is allowable here just because isn’t going to move me much (Shania Twain had a great expression for that!!).
My goal is also not to make them unhappy, but to correct false info (ie. PR spin), which I think is way within the topic of discussion here.
This is not a fan site and thanks to Marc, this isn’t tvbytheprspin.com where only spin is allowable.
To tell you the truth, and I might be wrong, I think they do know I am correct and are afraid others will start looking at the numbers objectively rather than through the prism of Hollywood’s PR machine.
Frankly, they have nothing to worry about. Hollywood loves its own PR so much, it actually believes it even as it knows how it’s made…
They also should not worry about Supergirl’s renewal. It was a done deal even before it premiered on CW.
We live in an era where massive mega-flop like My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend get renewed just because…
Well done!!!
I have to bow to your wise wisdom…
Your well-argued points leave me speechless…
Wait!!!
You had no point, just a lame attempt at bullying.
it won’t work and won’t change the fact Supergirl is a flop.
Well, this is a site on TV ratings, not a fan sit on Supergirl or CW…
So while I’m sorry if you’re upset to read a comment on the reality of that show’s performance, I certainly won’t stop posting when I see something worth noting or contradicting. 🙂
And not only that, but Supergirl was the 2nd highest rated broadcast show of the night in L+SD in first run episodes and 3rd highest rated overall.
“Supergirl was the 2nd highest rated broadcast show of the night in L+SD in first run episodes”
After reading this, I have to ask: Do you work for CW? Because if you don’t maybe there’s a job there for you as this is amazing spin.
The “Big Episode” gets lower ratings than reruns on other networks but those shouldn’t count…
Congrats!! 🙂
Do you work for Fox? Or are you secretly Bruno Heller trying to justify his claim that costumed superheroes don’t work on TV? Because you put an amazing amount of negative spin on Supergirl.
You don’t read my other posts… How disappointing!!! 😉
If you did, you’d have known I was highly critical of Gotham’s marketing campaign and called the show a flop early on (it still is).
Frankly, I don’t know why FOX till pays for more episodes…
It is Supergirl (and more generally CW) that is putting on huge amounts of spin, and I generally do respond to spin when it is giving a completely false idea of the success (or lack thereof) of a show.
If CW stopped trying to pass off its flops as “massive hits”, there’d be no need to correct them.
I don’t have a “spin” on Supergirl. The numbers peak for themselves. It’s CW that is trying to spin bad results into good ones.
I’ve said for years they’d be better off using all that energy they’re wasting on spinning show making better shows.
And a 46% increase in L+3 from L+SD for total 18-49
Hopefully potentially new viewers. 🙂 This is one of the higher L+3 in viewers that I’ve seen or that I can remember since it moved to THE CW.
Percentage increases are quite meaningless as they’re always a lot bigger for low-rated shows…
Ever wonder why they aren’t watched as much Live as they are later in the week?
Once again thanks for the interesting topic. 🙂
Too few of them here.
Generally, people watch faster what they really care about.
At any rate I do.
I’ve observed that show I really like (not many of those left sadly), I tend to watch live or as soon as they are available.
Those that I sorta like, stay on the DVR for a day or two… or three or four…
Those I no longer like start to pile up.
That’s why high DVR usage is generally a great predictor of future lower ratings.
Similarly high- re-run numbers are good predictors of future ratings hold or even growth – of course VERY few shows today have good re-run numbers.
Re-run numbers are also highly accurate predictors of syndication success or failure as shown by the disappointing numbers for many NBC comedies or Modern Family, which has been tanking USA Network which had thrived on NCIS re-runs.
Yeahh for SUPERGIRL! Up, Up, and Away!

Thanks for these. But wow that is unfair how was SG not a 1.2 with with that rating 🙁
It really makes no difference as they’re not correlated to ad revenue and a 0.1 difference is a lot less than a measurement error.
The Odd Couple was new right?
My Nielsen sheet indicated Odd Couple was a rerun on this night.
Yes, it was a new episode.
Intially, a rerun was planned. But CBS changed its mind and run a new episode.
Thank you again! Nice to see these L+3 numbers for the beginning of the DC CWTV Crossover.
