Monday Final Nationals: ‘Taken’ on NBC with Best TV Drama Prime Time Debut Ratings in Nearly Five Months

The return of “The Voice” helped boost NBC to win Monday night in all key measures: total viewers (11.17 million), adults 18-49 (2.6 rating/9 share), adults 18-34 (1.6/8) and adults 25-54 (3.5/11).

Leading out of “The Voice” on NBC was the series premiere of “Taken”, the TV adaptation of the hit 2009 Liam Neeson motion picture thriller. At 7.45 million viewers and a 1.6 rating among adults 18-49, according to live plus same day data, “Taken” ranks as TV’s most-watched new drama premiere in prime time since “Timeless” on Oct. 3, 2016 (Fox’s post-Super Bowl telecast of “24: Legacy” aired after the prime time period on Feb. 5).

“Taken” won the 10 p.m. hour over ABC and CBS in every key measure and scored regular-program highs for NBC in the slot since Oct. 3 in 18-49 and total viewers.

ABC’s LGBT-rights miniseries “When We Rise” got off to a sluggish start. It rated far behind its NBC and CBS competition from 9-11 p.m. and even fell behind Fox’s “APB” at 9-10 p.m. in viewership and adults 25-54. The following installments of “When We Rise” airs for two hours each night on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, respectively.
