ABC time period warmer “Bachelor in Paradise” topped the night at a 3.6 rating/7 share in the household overnights from 8-10 p.m., which was 16 percent above competing “American Ninja Warrior” (3.1/ 5) on NBC.

In series premiere news, CW musical comedy “I Ship It” was left at the overnight starting gate with a mere 0.3/ 1 at 9:30 p.m. Comparably, that was 57 percent below lead-in “Whose Line is it Anyway?” (0.7/ 1 at 9 p.m.). Earlier in the evening on The CW was “Penn & Teller: Fool Us” at a 0.9/ 2 in the 8 p.m. hour, which remains the network’s highest rated series this summer,
